What do we rely on at ENCAVIS? The sun. The wind. And on you.
Welcome to Encavis! Our world is all about the power of the sun, the wind and the more than 400 people across our group who are working together to shape the energy system of the future in order to ensure a sustainable energy supply for future generations.
ENCAVIS Management GmbH & Co. KG is the holding company of ENCAVIS GmbH, one of Europe's leading electricity producers from renewable energies. We operate a broadly diversified portfolio of over 330 onshore wind farms, ground-mounted solar plants and battery storage facilities in 13 European countries with an installed capacity of more than 5 GW. And best of all, we are continuing to grow! Our subsidiaries, Stern Energy SpA, which operates throughout Europe as a specialist in technical services for photovoltaic systems, and Encavis Portfolio Management GmbH, which specialises in supporting institutional investors, complement our portfolio.
What does this mean for you? The opportunity to make a difference, to shape and change things. As part of a multinational team that enjoys helping to make the energy transition a success.
As Short-Term Trading Analyst – Germany, you will join Encavis at an exciting stage of its growth journey. As one of Europe’s leading independent power producers, we operate a large and growing portfolio of renewable energy assets and have ambitious plans to significantly expand our platform across Europe. Alongside growing our portfolio, our ambition is to become best-in-class in how we trade, manage and optimize our renewable assets.
In this role, you will be at the center of that ambition, helping us extract more value from our portfolio through smarter trading, better forecasts and data-driven asset optimization. You will develop and improve quantitative and algorithmic strategies across day-ahead, intraday and ancillary services markets, optimize the dispatch and market participation of our renewable assets, and continuously enhance our trading execution.
Working at the intersection of power markets, quantitative analysis and technology, you will turn market data, forecasts and price signals into scalable trading and optimization solutions. We are looking for an ambitious and entrepreneurial individual who wants to take ownership, challenge existing approaches, and help build the next generation of Encavis’ short-term trading and optimization capabilities.
Your sunny outlook:
- Short-Term Trading & Execution: You actively support and continuously improve the execution of our day-ahead and intraday trading activities, identifying opportunities to improve execution quality and portfolio performance.
- Algorithmic Trading Strategies: You develop, test and continuously improve algorithmic trading strategies for day-ahead and intraday markets, translating market dynamics and trading ideas into scalable solutions.
- Asset & Portfolio Optimization: You develop strategies to optimize our renewable assets and portfolio across wholesale and ancillary services markets, considering forecasts, market prices, imbalance exposure and operational constraints.
- Ancillary Services: You support the development of bidding and optimisation strategies for ancillary services and help determine the optimal allocation of asset flexibility between wholesale and ancillary services markets.
- Forecasting & Meta-Forecasting: You work closely with external forecasting providers, systematically analyze forecast performance, and develop meta-forecasting approaches to improve the quality of our wind and solar production forecasts.
- Price Signals & Decision Models: You develop price signals and quantitative models that support trading and asset optimization decisions across different market horizons.
- AI-Driven Trading Development: You use modern AI-enabled development tools and workflows to accelerate quantitative analysis, strategy development, backtesting and automation of trading processes.
- Performance Analysis & Continuous Improvement: You monitor trading, forecasting and optimization performance, identify improvement opportunities and translate your findings into concrete changes to models, algorithms and trading processes.
We'll get wind of that soon:
- Academic Background: You hold a degree in engineering, economics, mathematics, computer science, physical science, or another quantitative field.
- Power Market Experience: You bring professional experience in short-term power trading, quantitative energy trading, renewable asset optimization, or a closely related field. Experience with the German power market is a strong plus.
- Quantitative & Analytical Skills: You have strong analytical capabilities and are comfortable working with statistical, stochastic and fundamental models to solve trading and optimization problems.
- Programming & AI Skills: You are highly proficient in Python and SQL and comfortable using modern AI-assisted development tools such as Codex to rapidly develop, test and improve analytical and trading solutions.
- Forecasting & Market Data: You are comfortable working with large volumes of power market, weather and renewable generation data and understand how forecast uncertainty affects short-term trading and asset optimization.
- Commercial & Entrepreneurial Mindset: You combine quantitative thinking with a strong commercial mindset, take ownership of your ideas and are motivated to turn analysis into measurable trading and portfolio improvements.
- Adaptability & Resilience: You thrive in a fast-moving trading environment, are comfortable making decisions under uncertainty and remain structured and focused when market conditions or priorities change quickly.
- Collaboration & Ownership: You enjoy working across trading, portfolio management, IT and external technology partners and take end-to-end ownership of initiatives from initial ideas through implementation and performance monitoring.
